Microplaceres

EDITORIAL ILLUSTRATION

"I'm sorry, really. I swear. But still, Your Honor... how hypnotic those bumps were. Yes, I know, I have already said it, but let me reiterate it. And I know it is no excuse, because there's no possible excuse. But those buttons were clearly a magnet for my weak and tired eyes, unable to resist them.” I was commisioned to illustrate a series of twenty erotic micro stories contained in a single book titled Microplaceres (Micropleasures) by author MªCarmen Latorre.

Lana virgen

Story II: “Lana virgen”

The whole story is a statement from an individual who pleads guilty to being unable to prevent his eyes from posing lasciviously on a woman's tight sweater. The illustration captures the moment when his furtive and excited gaze rests on the young woman.

Art direction

The general art direction is based on the use of large masses of flat and saturated colors on which silhouettes of elements that have relevance in each story stand out. Each silhouette serves as a container for a small illustrated scene. This way, all the illustrations are easily identifiable as part of the same collection.

La botella

Story V: “La botella”

The story is about the excitement that the sinuous forms of a glass bottle —employed in an innocent youth game— causes in the protagonist. The illustration shows the moment in which she expresses her predilection for the mentioned object of desire, above the relationship with other people her age.

Excerpt from the story (original Spanish)

“(…) A mí nunca me resultó especialmente atractivo aquello. Para mí el juego, en realidad, no tenía demasiada importancia. Mis ojos estaban fijos en aquel cuello robusto de vidrio; en la boca redonda que se me ofrecía a intervalos, ahora sí, ahora no; en las hendiduras que recorrían entero aquel objeto y formaban un suave relieve. No me importaba quién estuviera sentado a mi lado y ni si la botella me señalaba al finalizar su balanceo. Es más, deseaba con todas mis fuerzas que no me eligiera.” —MªCarmen Latorre
